2016 campaign: Community in Unity

The theme of the 2016 campaign was “A Community in Unity creates Child Well-Being.” We promoted it with events in member offices, in the field, on the airwaves and on social media. Here are some highlights:

  • This tip sheet shares ideas anyone can use to help prevent abuse and neglect.

  • A Spanish-language Public Service Announcement radio spot (transcript) co-sponsored by First 5 ran on Radio La Buena and Radio Ranchita ten times a day all month.

  • Each day in April, we posted a tip to the CAPC Facebook page. Visit and "Like" the page at www.facebook.com/sbc.capc.

  • CAPC members received media support including sample press release text, talking points, suggested Tweets, and more. They also viewed and discussed the Building Community, Building Hope video.

  • CAPC members including the Family Resource Centers and Department of Social Services received blue-ribbon pins and participated in "Wear Blue for Kids" awareness day events (typical photo).

  • The annual Pinwheels for Prevention event by the North County Rape Crisis and Child Protection Center took place on April 4 at the Lompoc Police Department (see these newspaper and television stories).
