Community Support Strengthens Families
The Santa Barbara County Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC) is proud to have presented April 2023 as Child Abuse Prevention Month! The theme of the 2023 campaign is "Community Support Strengthens Families."
We invite you to use our resources, including:
Talking points introducing this year's theme of community support;
Examples of community support from three different perspectives;
Additional prevention strategies;
PDF of a short slide deck.
You may also want to have a look at the News stories posted to this page in and around April 2023.
Every day in April and beyond, we posted daily tips on our Facebook page showing what a supportive community looks like from the perspectives of parents, youth, and service providers. We also promoted awareness activities and educational opportunities (like #WearBlue4Kids selfie days, a Children's Memorial Flag Raising, and more). You're invited to share anything you find on our Facebook page on your own individual or organizational page. (Or, choose from the entire set of Supportive Community images in English and Spanish.)
Where You Come In
Preventing child abuse and protecting children is a community responsibility, with everyone needing to take action to provide support to the families and children around us. Taking action can be as simple as offering a helping hand to a parent you know.
CAPC is a collaborative group dedicated to the prevention and early intervention of child abuse and neglect within the community. We enact change through raising community awareness, providing resources to parents, educating service providers, and supporting agencies providing prevention and intervention services.
