CAPC closed out Child Abuse Prevention Month 2019 by raising the Children's Memorial Flag, at a ceremony held on April 30 at the Department of Social Services in Santa Barbara. There was a moment of silence, and remarks by CAPC Director Barbara Finch and Santa Barbara County Supervisor Gregg Hart, in remembrance of children whose young lives were cut short by senseless violence.
The flag is typically flown either at the end of Child Abuse Prevention Month or on the fourth Friday of April (Children's Memorial Day), and those who attend the flag-raisings often make social media posts (like this one) to help raise awareness.
